They close the space between moving and stationary components. Precision bearings are especially useful. It prevents corrosive moisture from seeping into the bearings.
The shape and size of the oil seal vary in shape and size. They are made in such a way that they fit into various types of pipes, valves, and other openings.
As far as mechanical seals are concerned, they are used to contain fluid within a mechanical vessel, e.g., a pump and mixer. Here, a rotating shaft passes through various stationary housings. In some cases, the housing rotates around the shaft.
As far as the difference between a mechanical seal and an oil seal is concerned, a mechanical seal has three sealing points. The stationary part of the seal is fitted to the housing with a static seal. An O ring is used to seal the rotary portion. It can seal the faces well.
